The Next Century Foundation has been exposed to persistent and well organised cyber attack. It has had its website down for a month but we are grateful for the intervention of an expert who has devoted time anbd trouble to reinstating it. We have also had an attack related to our facebook page. More dangerously, our first meeting of the new year on the Middle East Peace Process was disrupted by a skilled group who used video pornography to disrupt the meeting for an hour persisy¡ting through our attempts to restart the meeting, though we did eventually get rid of them and resume the meeting safely. The group displated images advocating death to Hamas whilst purporting to be an anti-Israel group. We did have a speaker from Gaza in the meeting so we leave you to draw your own conclusion but screenshots are dosplayed above and below.
We will now adopt slightly costly additional security measures. We will also no longer admit anyone to zoom meetings that does not pre register. We will also no longer admit anyone who arrives more than five minutes after the start of the meeting. We may be forced to adopt further security measures like password protection for meetings or requiring participants to open a zoom account but we hopee that does not become neccessary.
These attacks are not the work of a lone wolf (a minimum of three people were involved in the coordinated attack on our zoom meeting). If we are being subject to attack from an intelligence agency we are both flattered and saddened. It seems more likely to be the work of an anti-social group like the Jewish Defence League, or possibly even they are what they claim to be, a reactionary and rejectionist Arab group. Whatever they are the enemies of peace and it sadenning that people like this still exist in today´s world.
