The Next Century Foundation welcomes the release of Loujain Al-Hathloul from prison with great enthusiasm and pleads for the release of other detained human rights activists from the prisons of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a written statement to the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council

The introduction can be read as follows:

We note the release from prison of female activist, Ms. Loujain Al-Hathloul from prison and are greatly encouraged by this act of mercy on part of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. That said, the Next Century Foundation notes that Ms. Loujain Al-Hathloul remains under suspended sentence and subject to a travel ban. None the less this is a great step forward. We would now urge the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to also release the other female activists that remain detained in the Kingdom’s prisons of Al-Ha’ir, al Mabahith, and Dhahban. Most prominently we would request the release of Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and her daughter Suhoud al-Sharif, as well as Ms Samar Badawi, Ms Nouf Abdulaziz, and Ms Nassima Al-Sadah.
